SECRETS Casinos DON’T Want You To Find Out!

From getting your personal information to monitoring your every move, here are 10 tricks casinos don’t want you to know!

10. Free Stuff Places like Las Vegas are all about the money.

If you have limited funds but still want to gamble, a wise move is to focus on comps. ‘Comp’ stands for ‘complementary’ and it’s the casino’s way of keeping you happy, even if you’re losing. A good tip is to bet high as your opening move. Spending a few extra dollars at the start puts you in the good graces of the casino and the comps should start flowing. For example $20 per hand for blackjack gives the right impression. Don’t do anything you can’t afford though!

Also if those comps aren’t happening, ask! A little initiative on your part can go a long way. Even if you are only hanging out in a casino for the weekend, you can get all kinds of free perks!

Getting a player’s card is the right way to go. This is similar to a customer loyalty card and they are free. All you have to do is show your ID to register for one and then the casino will send you offers for free stuff using your info, usually in the form of coupons.

Your info can also be used to snoop on what you get up to but we’ll go into that a bit later!

9. Money Maze You might ask yourself how you lost all that money after a visit to the casino.

Clearly Lady Luck wasn’t on your side. But it will surprise you to learn there is another major factor involved. One that operates on a subliminal level to keep you in the building and make it difficult for you to leave. This is the maze-like design of a casino, something the owners really don’t want you to know about! The psychology of casino design is talked about by writer Bill Friedman in his book ‘Stripping Las Vegas’.

Friedman mentions that the best kind of casino layout is like a labyrinth. A labyrinth made up of slot machines and other distractions. The gambler tries to find their way through this elaborate maze to get out, but a combination of short pathways and hard-to-reach exits mean it’s more likely they’ll stop to spend some more money. Some casinos are designed like intimate spaces rather than gaming zones the size of aircraft hangars. This creates a sense of comfort along with the confusion.

Add to this perks like free drinks and it’s no wonder you decided to try your luck on the Megabucks machine. You couldn’t even find your way to the exit, plus its hot as hell outside at least in Vegas, so why not stay and chill for just a little while longer…5 more bucks won’t hurt….right??

8. NORA Software NORA stands for Non Obvious Relationship Awareness. It was devised by Systems Research & Development, a data mining company in Las Vegas. NORA is keeping a close eye on you from the moment you walk in the casino.

It’s no surprise you’re going to be watched in a place with lots of money but NORA goes much further. The software gathers a wealth of personal information about players via tools such as loyalty cards. See…that’s how the getcha!!! It then uses that info to weed out cheaters. However it can also be used to judge how valuable you are to the casino based on your activity.

Big Brother is watching you!! NORA works hand in hand with CCTV cameras and a team of experts hired by the casino. These include security pros, cryptographers and game theorists.

The technology they use is like something out of a Bond movie! Playing chips are fitted with radio frequency transmitters that let experts know if the player is being sneaky with their game. At the same time masses of information is being gathered about you. In fact you hand over much of it willingly – for example when you’re trying to get those all important comps. Some have expressed concern that this gives casinos too much power and that the information can be misused.

Others see NORA software as positive for society. The security tech used by Homeland Security to fight terrorism started out in the casinos. Either way casinos aren’t that happy that you know about their snooping! But even so, we probably don’t even know the half of it.

7. Free Drinks There’s one surefire way to get free drinks in Vegas… if you’re spending lots of money! We’re assuming you don’t always want to do that so here are some pointers on how to drink for free without breaking your budget. You can score some refreshment by hanging around the tables watching other games. But if you really want to keep the liquor coming you have to put a bit more thought into it.

The secret is tipping. Bartenders and waitresses are always looking for something extra. Don’t let that idea scare you off though.

You don’t have to pay them a small fortune. Start with a generous tip of, say, $5. Then you can offer smaller tips as you go. You can even drink for free at penny machines, they aren’t judging. Just be nice to the servers!! Be careful how you go about doing this.

Casinos are getting wise to losing money through comps and there’s talk of free drinks being ruled out to save extra dollars. We’d advise you to take the opportunity before it disappears!

6. Chips Not Cash Using chips in a casino is something you take for granted. It’s easy to think this is all part of the fun. That it makes life simpler, avoiding the pitfalls of keeping track of your cash or getting fake bills. A lot of us take it at face value and don’t think about it. However you should think about it because this is another way casinos trick you into spending your hard-earned cash.

For starters there’s the idea you’ll be more daring with chips than cash. $1000 looks pretty intimidating as a wad of bills. It’s a different prospect when its wrapped up in an itty bitty chip. Also remember what I was saying earlier about chips being fitted with transmitters? This is known as RFID, or Radio Frequency ID.

These transmitters can be easily traced by the management, making it a cinch to move in on criminals after fast money. Chips function as both a mental distraction and a vital tool in the fight against crime. Casinos don’t mind you knowing about that last part of course.

The first part of the trick is one they’re not so happy about broadcasting!

5. Clocking Off This next trick is pretty simple. Casino owners want you to spend as long as possible inside their establishments. The more time you spend, the more money you’ll spend. There is a direct correlation!

In fact it would suit casinos if you lost all sense of time altogether. If only there was a way they could do that. Well guess what? There is. They can’t stop time.

But they don’t have to have clocks on the walls either. Or windows, or any way really to know what time it is. But I’ll get to windows in a bit. A gambler could really lose track of what they were doing without a reminder of how long they’ve been wandering the aisles in search of a jackpot. A good way round this is to wear a watch but there is a more obvious solution to the problem…check the time on your phone!

4. Window to the World Casino owners hate windows. It’s as simple as that. When you look out a window you’re not looking at a blackjack table or a fruit machine. You realize it’s gotten dark since you went in to place a few bets. And that’s not what the casinos want. They create a sealed world where all that matters is their brightly-coloured environment.

This is also true if you like to gamble online. Make sure you’re near some glass so you’re aware of time passing around you. You can lose a ton of money sitting at your keyboard as much as you can working the floor of the Flamingo! Don’t give the casino owners the advantage – you’re there to play, not get tricked!

3. Big Brother You’re being watched! Player’s cards and CCTV are used extensively to track your movements as you gamble. The cards provide authorities with your personal information and the cameras study your face and more importantly your hands. Take these epic levels of snooping into account and you wouldn’t be out of line calling a casino owner ‘Big Brother’, after the all-seeing eye in George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’.

The thing you should understand about gambling in a casino is you’re not anonymous. They know who you are. The marketing department can then send you whatever they like in the hope of tempting you back for another spin. And while you’re under their roof, the management can keep tabs on you in an extraordinary level of detail. This extreme surveillance culture is intended to crack down on bad behaviour in the casino.

They are checking for cheaters, card counters, and in recent cases, robberies. There are arguments for and against this high level of spying, but you know its there!

2. Sights, Sounds & Smells A sneaky trick casinos play on you involves bombarding your senses with sights, sounds and smells. The flashing lights hold your attention and stop you thinking about stuff that doesn’t have anything to do with having fun and gambling. Music is piped in to ramp up your excitement levels.

Strangest of all, smell plays a big part in the experience. Certain scents are pumped into the casino. Smells that conjure up exotic places have proved popular in the past. On the plus side, the fake aroma helps to offset the stink of booze and cigarettes.

And they usually have an excellent air filtration system so you feel fresh and awake. However you are being manipulated through your nostrils to stay and play. Watch your back. Can’t say I didn’t warn you!

1. Hidden Fees You’re losing enough of your cash while gambling. So it may shock you to learn that casinos add fees on top of everything. Fees which are hidden and are less than reasonable. This is the dirtiest trick in the book when it comes to your casino experience. The resort fee is famously unfair.

This fee is everywhere in Las Vegas. It isn’t made clear at the start of your stay but daily charges are applied to your account. These are described as for “amenities”.

Even if you book online, when you check in there will be at least a $35 resort fee. Seeing as you’re paying to use many of the services the casino offers anyway, that’s some nerve they’ve got there! Say you want to get away from the tables for a bit and go grab a bite to eat on the Strip.

You could also fall prey to a Concession & Franchise Fee, or CNF. This puts an extra 4.7% on your bill for the weirdest of reasons. ‘Prime real estate locations’ is one of the reasons offered.

How to Play Blackjack

Hi, my name’s Martin. What I’m gonna do here, is I’m gonna show and explain to you, how to play Blackjack. All the rudiments of the game, all the little things that you need to know like Splitting and Doubling and we’re gonna have some lovely hand examples to help you to learn the game with us. In the game of Blackjack, what you’re trying to do is you’re trying to get closer to 21 than the house. The good news is that you get the choice in making decisions, the house doesn’t. The house will always, as it says on the table here, will always have to draw cards till 17 and will always have to stand on any total of 17 and above.

By contrast, you yourself can choose when to take a card and when to stand. There are some other scenarios that we’ll go through in some example hands here, where you can increase your bets and potentially increase your winnings. These are called Splitting, when a matching pair is split and you create new hands and new chances to win and also Doubling Down, when your total of your first two cards is less than 11, you there have the opportunity to maybe buy a card.

Double Down one card only, where you double your initial bet and you get just the one more card and hopefully you double your winnings. You’ll see examples of this in the hands that follow. Now the aim of the game, the perfect hand, is a Blackjack. A Blackjack is an Ace with a 10 valued card, which gives you a total of 21 in two cards which will beat any other hand and the really good news is with the Blackjack, you don’t get paid double, you get paid 3/2. Have a look through the example hands and learn the game with us. Okay, here we go with an example hand for you.

Three boxes being played, let’s deal the cards. 2, 10, 8, 4 for the house, oh a matching pair there. Right, in this scenario, we’ve got the chance to Split. You can Split any matching pair, it’s not compulsory, it’s up to you if you wish to or not. Let’s do it in this case.

We’ve got a pair of 2’s, we will put another stake down here and play them as two separate hands, doubling the chance to win. Let’s see what cards we get here. 7 and 9. Now we’ve spoken also about the opportunity in the game of Blackjack of Doubling Down and if your first two cards are worth a total of 11 or less, you have the chance, if you wish to, to buy a card or to Double Down. In this case, you would double your initial bet here for one card only if you wish to.

Let’s have a little look at the situation. You’ve got a 9 here, I’m going to say we don’t Double Down at this stage, we’ll just take a card. So it’s card here, your total goes to 19, that’s very very good. Here on 11, I think that’s slightly better odds, it’s good strategy perhaps to take a card on 11, as a Double Down, so you’d have to again, Put your bet down there, 4 chips in this case, One card only, Doubling Down. And your total is 20. Moving across, 17, that’s a good hand to stand on.

11 is another opportunity should you wish to, to Double Down. Let’s Double Down one more time and make this a very expansive hand. There we go, you’ve Doubled Down in this scenario again, one card only when you double. 19 is the total.

At this stage, you finish your decision making, we come over to the house, the house will draw cards until 17. when the house reaches 17, there will be no more cards drawn. 8, 14. A perfect scenario, the dealer has bust, fantastic! We go over 21, you get paid. Every single one of these bets is a winner.

A lovely scenario for you players. You’ve had Splits, you’ve had Doubles, every single bet is getting paid. That’s the perfect hand for you. Here’s another one. Right, 4, 14, Ace worth 1 or 11 remember, 3 makes 12, we’ll take the card, 16 we’re gonna stay on that. A pair of 3’s, let’s split them and see what happens.

You can split any matching pair, It’s not compulsory. Splitting the 3’s, 4, 14’s our card, 14 that’s a lovely 21. 8, 18, we’re goonna stay on 18, 14’s a card, that one I’m afraid is a bust.

No more cards then, house will draw to 17. 16, that’s a bust, the house has gone over, everyone who’s left in the hand get’s paid, a nice winning hand with the dealers bust. Right let’s play one more hand.

Ace, 6 Ace, 2, Blackjack, 8 and 7 or 17. Now in a Blackjack, I can’t beat it here, so we’re gonna pay it 1 & 1/2 times, a lovely winning hand here. 6 chips, you don’t win 6, because it’s a Blackjack you win 1 & 1/2, so it’s 9 for a winning Blackjack, lovely winning hand that one. Here, your total is 8 or 18, let’s take a card. That’s 17, let’s stand. Here, tricky decision for you, 7 or 17.

You’ll see a little bit later on, we’ll talk about some different strategies. 7 or 17, Let’s in this case say we’re going to stand. Dealer cards, 5, 6 or 16, 19 the dealer has made a total of 17 or more. Sadly in this case, it’s a winner for the house. Insurance.

Insurance is something you don’t see too often in the casino’s. It’s a way of you insuring yourself against the dealer getting a Blackjack and you losing all your money and all your chips in a hand. I’ve got a nice hand set up for you already, I know what’s going to happen, let’s show you how insurance works. Deal the cards out, 10, 8 and 9. Dealer card is the Ace. 20, 10, 19.

So 20, we’re gonna stand. There’s no point Splitting against the good card there. The ace, we’re gonna not double the 10, we’re gonna take a card. 18, we’re gonna stand.

19, no need to take any more cards. At this stage, what you can do is you can take Insurance. Insurance means that you are insuring against me getting the Blackjack, the next card being a 10 value and me beating you. What you’re permitted to do, you’re permitted to bet up to half of your original bet, on this line, the Insurance line. You can see here, Insurance. Lets pull the cards back and show you.

Insurance pays 2/1 and there we are. So anything you bet on the insurance line, I’m gonna pay you 2/1 odds. So the player here can bet 2, the player here has got 100, He can bet himself 50. The player on the end here can stick one on there if they want to. It’s an optional bet the Insurance, you don’t need to do it if you don’t feel like it.

If in this scenario, I pull the Blackjack which is a winning hand for the house. The original bets, they’re all losers. The good news is because you’ve placed an Insurance bet, we pay those out at 2/1. That one pays back, that 50 pays 100, 2/1 odds, that 1 pays 2. You’ve rescued a bad hand by playing the Insurance and if the Insurance lost, there’s every chance your original bet will win. So it’s a nice little way of making sure that you don’t get too much damage if the dealers got an Ace for their first card.

It’s called playing Insurance. It’s an option, it’s an option to limit how much you can loose really. Let’s play a lovely hand here. We’re gonna look at the opportunity that you get to change your bets during the hand, to increase the amount of money you’ve got at the table. Splitting and Doubling, let’s see how it all works, let’s play out a nice hand for you.

Three different boxes here, let’s deal the cards out. 8, King, and a 2, house cards a 7, a pair of 8’s, 19 and 11. Lots of options here for the player in the first box. He’s got a pair of 8’s.

What are his options? His options are to stand, to think 16’s enough and hope that i bust. He can take a card and try and get nearer to 21. I think in this case what you do, you Split the 8’s when you’ve got a matching pair you can split them up and play them as two separate hands. Two chips is the bet, two chips is how much you have to pay to play the Split. So the next thing is, the cards get dealt to the 8’s.

18 and 17. The choices are to take a card, to stand, both cases here I think we stand on 17 and 18. Let’s play our 19, a very good hand.

Now then, what have we got here? We’ve got a lovely opportunity. I spoke to you before about the chance of Doubling Down, increasing your bets. Double Down one card only is available to you if your first two cards add up to less than 11.

It’s a risky thing to do, what you’re doing is, you’re doubling your initial bet, but you’re only going to get one more card. So let’s Double Down on 11. Well that’s beautiful, that’s 21 as well. It’s a lovely looking hand. So the players have got 18, 17, 19 and 21, it’s no more cards. What I’m now gonna do, I’m gonna deal the dealer cards until we make a total of 17 or more.

17, let’s have a look at the situation then. Fantastic hand for the players. 21, that’s a winner, that gets paid. 19’s a winner, that gets paid. 17, that’s called a Push. A Push is where the scores are level, we have the same total, the player and the dealer, nobody wins, the bet stays.

The last hand is 18, that ones a winner, now that’s what i’d call a perfect hand. You’ve got Splits, you’ve got Double Downs, you’ve got a Push and you’ve got the dealer paying out to the players. A cracking hand for you. Let’s deal the next hand out then.

3, 7, 4, dealers card is 2, 7, 4 and a 4. Very good hand this one, we like this one. Opportunities here, the dealer card as we may have spoken about before, if the dealer card is less than a 7, it’s considered a week card.

If the dealer card is an Ace or above, it’s considered a strong card. Against the weak card, you’re gonna be taking more chances, against a strong card you’re gonna be a little bit more careful. The dealer card, fairly weak the 2, middling to weak. So, we’ve got the opportunity here, we’ve got less than 11 with the first two cards to Double Down one card only if we wish to. This hand here is now a 10, shall we take a chance?

Shall we double down? Lets try it and see how the hand works out. 10, Double Down against a 2. An Ace, that’s perfect. That’s 21, that hand cannot be beaten. Lets move along, let’s Double Down again.

We’ve got 11 against the dealer 2, is this going to be the dream hand I wonder? If you’re gonna Double Down, you double your original stake. 11 against the 2, one card only, 21. That is fantastic. Now what we’ve got here, a pair of 4’s. Some people would Split them, some people wouldn’t.

The option is there. Now if we wish to, we can Split the two 4’s and play them as two hands, If we wish to we can play it from the 8. In this case, I think maybe the more sensible course of action is just to take a card. Lets do that one. 10, 21, it’s almost like I’ve set these cards up isn’t it?

I haven’t actually. It’s a wonderful looking hand. 21, 21, 21, nobody can loose. It’s a fantastic scenario. No more cards, the dealer will now draw to 17.

Lets see how the hand finishes off. 2, 5, 15, 16, 25, dealers bust, everyone’s dream scenario, dealer bust. A winner, a Double Down winner, another winner. Lots and lots of hands like this and you’ll be having a great time at the Blackjack table, perfect.! Right, let’s play one more hand. Queen, 10 and a Jack, house card is a 7.

Blackjack, 20, 20. Gosh, very easy for you players. If only every hand was as easy as this one. A Blackjack against a 7.

Well I can’t match it, so iIm gonna pay it. a Blackjack as I may have told you before is not paid at evens, we pay 3/2, it’s a lovely winning return. So instead of winning two chips, you win three. That’s a Blackjack. That’s a lovely winning hand for you.

Simple decisions here isn’t it? 20 and 20, no more cards, I’m gonna draw to 17, hopefully not to 21. 13, dealer bust. Dealer bust, player win, lets pay these chips out.

Another wonderful winning hand. I do hope that what we’ve taught you about the Splitting, the Doubling, a little bit of the tactics, about when you should and shouldn’t take a card have been really helpful to you in the game of Blackjack. I hope you enjoy your game. I hope you have a successful time. The number one thing with all gaming, make sure you enjoy it.

How to Bet in Blackjack | Gambling Tips

Hey guys. I just wanted to go over blackjack betting. A lot of times you have a lot of people who they have their methods or systems or whatever they want to call it on how to bet. There are a couple of right ways to do it.

There are a couple of wrong ways to do it. I am going into a few of the methods and you can use whatever is comfortable for you. First up, you have a lot of people who do what is called flat betting. They’re in for $100 and thinking it doesn’t matter what happens, win or lose they are betting $100 every time, like $100, $100, $100. A lot of times what you get also are people who they use a system, a really popular one, called the Martingale System where basically you bet $100 and then say you lose the bet and then you follow that up with a bet of $200. Then if you lose that bet then you follow that up with a bet of $400.

That requires you to have a whole lot of money, one, and then two if you end up with a whole string of loses then you are wiped out. I wouldn’t recommend that. Instead, I would recommend two ways. The simple way would be to use a high/low betting system.

Say if you are betting $100, you win your hand then the next bet you go to $200. $100 is your low. $200 is your high, as you keep winning $200, once you lose a hand you go back down to $100. That way you’re trying to maximize the amount of money that you actually have out there while you are winning and minimizing money while you are losing.

I just use the $100, $200 as an example. For lower limits if you are betting $10, you could make that spread as wide as you like. Whatever is going to make you feel comfortable.

If you want to bet $10 and say you win, then you go to $50. Then you keep playing $50 until you lose then you go back to $10. That’s entirely up to you if you want to try it that way. The way I personally play, I do progressive betting.

What that does basically is it maximizes on streaks that tend to happen in the game. If things are going really well then I just keep betting and betting and betting. One of the things with that, say if I’m betting $50 a hand, if I win two bets in a row, then I start going up.

I go to $75. Then I’ll go to $100. Then I’ll go to $150. Then I go to $200. Then I go to $300.

The whole methodology behind this is that even if I could win all of these hands in a row. I bet $400. If I were to lose, then I lose the $400 right here, but then this is all profit. Then I would start back at $50 and then kind of work my way back up again.

I find that to be a very powerful system that works very well. As far as your limits, a lot of times people are comfortable at a lot of lower limit players will stop at $50. $50 is considered a big hand. So, what a lot of times what people will do, people get up to $50 and start flat betting at $50.

If that’s what you are comfortable with then that’s fine. Once you’re done, once you lose, then you drop down. Personally, I just keep going until I am into betting thousands, $2000, $3000.

That’s all personal preference there. That’s how you bet in blackjack.

Step back in time at the Luxor or Caesars Palace. This is what Ancient Egypt and Rome might have been like if they’d discovered electricity and cocktails (or happy hours) a little sooner. Feeling more tropically inclined? Kick off those heels and feel the sand between your toes at The Mirage and Mandalay Bay resorts.

The resorts on the Strip are so vast and self-contained, it’s possible to land in one and not step outside again for the rest of your stay. But you will step out and explore the unique themes of at least a few others, sampling the incredible shows, dining, and shopping experiences each one has to offer. If this neon paradise still ain’t enough for you, Mother Nature has a few surprises of her own.

That is, if you can find your way out! The Valley of Fire is just 50 miles out of town, and the Grand Canyon is a half-a-day drive away. But as nighttime descends, Vegas calls like an incredible cluster of neon jewels under the desert sky. Las Vegas dazzles like no other city. She’s here to remind us that we’re here on Earth, not for a long time, but for a good time!

And Las Vegas will be the best time you ever had.

Poker Games : How to Play Caribbean Stud Poker

You don’t have to be a stud to learn how to play the game Caribbean Stud Poker. Hi, my name is Dean Hale and I’m going to teach you a little bit about that game. It’s a very popular game that’s played all over in casinos, cruise ships, and gambling halls all across the world.

It’s a very simple game that you are playing against the dealer. When you initially start the game, you would then…you would take your chips and put them in the ante pile. You’re going to have circles on the table, you’d put them in the ante circle.

You would get your, you also have the option, which is one of the neat things about Caribbean Stud poker is they have what’s called a progressive jackpot. If you want, y…it’s, it’s, it’s optional, so you do not have to do it, but if you wanted to play in a progressive jackpot, you would take a chip and you would put it in a little slot for the progressive jackpot which will enable you to qualify to get that uh, that big jackpot if you were to score that big hand. The dealer will then deal five cards to each player. You will then look at your five cards and decide whether they were good enough to continue or not. If you think you have a good hand, and you want to play, you would have to double what your ante was. The game will go, everybody will do their betting and then the cards will get turned over, and you’re playing against the dealer.

The dealer has to have a minimum hand to qualify to be able to beat you. Ace-king is typically that qualifying hand. If they have ace-king, you will then turn it over to see if your hand is better. If they do not qualify, let’s say they have a queen high, and you have a king, you win the hand. Now, the big thing to know about this is whether the dealer qualifies or not, if you put money in the progressive jackpot, and you want to have a chance at that progressive jackpot, you have to instruct the dealer to turn your cards over to have a chance at that progressive jackpot.

Different venues will have different payouts for the jack, uh, progressive jackpot. So you want to turn it over to see if you have four of a kind. It might actually give you that big payout.

My name is Dean Hale. Now you know how to play Caribbean Stud poker.

10 Clever Casino Scams In Recent History

As long as casino games have existed, there have always been those who want to find a way to beat them. Some have sought out guaranteed ways to win without actually breaking the rules, but most approaches are simply one big scam. Some of these fraudsters have gone to great lengths to devise complicated cheats.

10. New York Roulette Ring In 2012, casinos in Ohio were invaded by a New York crime ring involved in a roulette scam. According to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, the group consisted of roughly 50-70 people who scoured the country ripping off United States casinos. In this scam, the players entered the game with low bets (sometimes as low as $1 per chip).

They secretly pocketed certain colored chips while another player distracted the dealer. The first player then excused himself from the table and secretly passed the chips to another member of the gang. That second member then hit another table, assigned a higher value to that chips color, and cashed out at the new rate. They were discovered after pulling the scheme in four different Ohio cities. Four men were arrested and pled guilty, but it is speculated that more were involved and had fled before officials arrived. The commissioner on the case estimated that the group was able to pick up $1,000-$2,000 per scam during their Ohio rounds, but it’s impossible to tell how much they racked up as a group over the years.

In addition, nobody knows for sure how many scammers are still at large or if theyre still actively hustling.

9. The Roselli Brothers From 1995 to 2000, a couple of scam artists who called themselves the Roselli Brothers were able to obtain over $37 million from casinos in New Jersey, Nevada, and Puerto Rico without spending a single penny. How did they do it?

With identity theft and unbelievable persistence. To pull off the grand scheme, the brothers hired a computer hacker to pull data from credit systems and find people with excellent credit. Accounts were opened in those names, the Roselli brothers put $50,000 of their own money into them, and they received credit lines with all the major casinos within six months.

They continued this scam for five years thanks to offset betting procedures and perfectly timed gambling schedules. That way, they could make the gaming officials believe they were losing money while their associates won big on the other side. They then paid all outstanding markers, and their casino credit lines increased to upward of a million dollars. Over New Year’s weekend in 2000, they exited the casino scamming game permanently with a huge blowout in Las Vegas. They ran their scheme through many casinos in one night—with bets as high as $100,000 per hand—before collecting their ample winnings and disappearing forever. It took six additional months for the FBI to figure out that the scam had even taken place.

By then it was too late, as they discovered the real Roselli brothers had actually died many years previously. The true identity of the scammers is still unknown.

8. 60-Second ATM Scam Not all casino scams take place at the betting tables. Sometimes, all you need is a debit card to steal thousands of dollars from the biggest casinos in the world. In 2012, 14 conspirators were charged with the theft of over $1 million from Citibank using casino kiosks in California and Nevada.

The scam involved exploiting a gap in the kiosk security that allowed multiple unrecorded withdrawals within a 60-second opportunity window. The ringleader, Ara Keshishyan, recruited a team to open multiple checking accounts from Citibank. The group would then go to casinos all over Southern California and Las Vegas and use their Citibank cash advance kiosks to withdraw up to ten times the amount of money deposited into the accounts using the one-minute security gap. They were careful to keep their deposits and withdrawals under $10,000 so federal agents remained at bay. Once the money was collected at the cages, Ara would take a considerable cut from his co-conspirators, and the rest would be split to gamble among the team.

They were comped for rooms, food, drink, and entertainment during their scheming and never had to pay for a single thing. Ultimately though, all this scheming did not pay off. Ara was arrested and charged with 14 cases of bank fraud. If convicted, he could receive 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine per count. His conspirators each face up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

7. French Cigarette Pack Scam In the summer of 1973, one of the greatest roulette scams took place at the Casino Deauville in France. It involved a radio amateur (who was also a casino roulette dealer), his brother-in-law, and his beautiful sister. The dealer created a radio transmitter which fit perfectly into a pack of cigarettes. He also turned a weightless receiver into a roulette ball which he used at his table.

His brother-in-law posed as the unknowing player placing bets while the sister served as the “button pusher” holding the cigarette pack. Once she pressed the transmitters button, the ball would descend from its spin and land in groups of six possible numbers with an impressive 90% accuracy. She always stood one table over to remain inconspicuous to officials on the floor. In just one week, the trio managed to score 5 million franks, which at the time was roughly $1 million USD. Casino officials caught wind of what was happening and became suspicious.

They investigated every possibility from a defective wheel to the (accurate) assumption that the dealer was corrupt. They spent weeks with experts but could find nothing out of the ordinary. The scammers downfall came after the casino owner took a romantic interest in the sister. He made a move on her and was quickly turned down.

Shortly thereafter, he began to notice her presence in a different light. He made the connection that she was always in the casino whenever the same person at the same roulette table consistently won large amounts of cash. He put these clues together, suspected radio interference was to blame, and had a debugging team sweep the floor. Eventually, the team was caught and arrested.

If only the sister hadn’t been so alluring and beautiful, they might have gotten away with their brilliant plan.

6. The Cutter Gang The “Cutter Gang” cheated their way to millions at the baccarat table in 2011. They were able to beat the system by accepting the standard offer to cut the deck after the dealer shuffled the cards. A member would then drag one particular card (the cutting card) along the deck while separating the cards before placing it back in the deck.

What made the scheme foolproof was that the same player had a tiny camera hidden in his cufflink to see the card values. That player would then excuse himself to give the camera and information to another member of the gang. They would return with winning hands every single time. The gang was detained in Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan casino in January of 2011 after suspiciously raking in over $1 million, but they were released after authorities found no evidence of wrongdoing.

They were later arrested for cheating in the Philippines, but they escaped shortly after and have been missing ever since.

5. Cannes Contact Lens Scam In 2011, three Italians and a Frenchman managed to swindle nearly 64,000 Euros (roughly $84,000 USD) from the Princes Casino in Cannes using an ingenious method.

While playing stud poker, the Frenchman would mark symbols on card decks with invisible ink, while the Italian players wore special contact lenses to see the markings. Suspicion was raised after the group returned with a second substantial winning streak in the same casino. Police were called to investigate, and they were able to find the symbols marked on the cards which included a short line to represent an ace and a cross to represent a king. It took a while longer to figure out how the players were able to see the ink. After ruling out the possibility of camera usage, they finally noticed each player sported contact lenses nobody had ever seen before.

The players were caught and, despite the cool and sneaky nature of their scheme, faced a long jail sentence.

4. Ritz Roulette Scam In 2004, a trio of gamblers from Hungary and Siberia managed to take £1.3 million (or roughly $2.1 million USD) from the Ritz Casino in London by allegedly utilizing laser technology. Incredibly, they got to keep the money. It is thought that the trio used a technique based on a theory called “sector targeting,” which uses figures to determine the decaying orbit and devises a likely set of outcomes regarding where the ball will rest.

The group supposedly used laser scanners in their phones that were connected to a computer that predicted the numbers likely to win big in roulette. The scanner could judge the roulette ball’s speed and suggest which numbers it might land on. Thus, the group was able to make calculations fast enough to place their bets before the ball made its final rotation.

The gang was arrested but, since sector targeting isnt technically considered cheating, they were let go with no charges.

3. Phil Ivey Jr. Edge Sorting Scam Allegedly, championship poker player Phil Ivey Jr. schemed his way to $9.6 million at a baccarat table in 2014.

He did it at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City using a technique called “edge sorting.” A player sorting edges does so by observing any defects or abnormalities in certain cards. They then memorize these imperfections and use them to identify the cards correctly in the future. Although it sounds like a fair tactic, edge sorting is frowned upon by most casino officials, especially the way Ivey did it.

He and his partner noticed that some of the tables cards had diamond shapes and patterns with defects on the back. Some had full diamonds while others were cut in half. Ivey and his partner would then instruct the dealer to flip the good and bad cards over in certain, prearranged directions. This allowed Ivey to more easily identify the cards and make all the right bets. The Borgata has filed a lawsuit against Ivey over the scheme. He has denied any and all misconduct, but this is the second edge-sorting lawsuit he has been dealt over his career.

If Ivey gets away with this, he’ll officially be one of the most successful scammers in the game.

2. Phuong Quoc Truong Gang A man named Phuong Quoc Truong (also known as Pai Gow John) assembled a team of illegal card counters by traveling the US and convincing dealers to cheat for him.

By the time he entered the grand scheme, he had 30 accomplices. To carry out the scam, the corrupt dealer would give the illusion of shuffling cards.

In actuality, he would just put the corners together so the deck would make a shuffling noise while the cards remained in the same order. Meanwhile, the main player would pretend to smoke a cigarette while whispering information about the dealt cards to an outside player via a microphone hidden in his sleeve. Once given his instructions, the smoker would then place his fingers on his cigarette in a certain way. This was a code to the other players that directed them to make their bets.

The group managed to make over $7 million from 25 different casinos before they were caught. The Sickwan Gaming Commission discovered Phuong and his accomplices though the security surveillance footage, and they were promptly arrested. Many pled guilty and are currently serving time in prison. Poor Phuong actually had to give up two of his homes and a Porsche in addition to other luxuries.

1. Australian Danny Ocean In 2013, an unknown man was able to steal $33 million AUD ($30 million USD) from the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia after hacking into the surveillance system.

It was a heist straight out of Oceans Eleven, and the hunt still continues for the mans identity. Although the casino has not officially revealed details about how the scheme was carried out, a Las Vegas casino consultant named Barron Stringfellow has deduced how it was accomplished. He suspects that the player was wearing an earpiece and playing at the VIP tables, while an accomplice surveyed the surveillance footage from a safe location inside or around the casino. The accomplice then relayed what bets and plays to throw down for maximum profit. The only extra detail released about the case states that the VIP staff member responsible for looking after the gambler on the night of the heist has been dismissed. It is unknown, however, whether he was involved in the scam or not.

The Crown Casino is optimistic about recovering the money, but officials counter that the chances are nigh impossible. Morgan Swank is a professional joke writer, social media guru, and all-around list maker. She tried counting cards once.

Ben Affleck Kicked Out Of Casino For Card Counting

The Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas ike booted Ben Affleck, from a game of blackjack because they suspected that he was counting cards. Now they didn’t kick him out at the casino. They told him that he was free to play any other game that he wanted to and summer saying that that was an OK response for them to have. I should note that counting cards is not only goal, it is frowned upon and a casino does hold the right to boo you from a game if they do suspect that you are, are counting cards now part of the reason why their really really strict with this Kinda stuff is because, first of all, casinos have not been making the same amount of money. They did before the 2008 economic collapse and also they want to have the upper hand they want to ensure that they’re, the ones that make money off your ass. So if you’re counting cards, they’re, probably not going to be in pay-per-view continuing the game, are super strong to clarify the meet, perhaps shouldn’t feel too bad for the casinos back in 2007.

Before the collapse they made $ 11 billion dollars of love. I gambling innings and now they’re all the way down and 9.6 billion dollars. So I should note that those are all casinos in Clark County, the majority of which are in Las Vegas, okay, so right now the question is a should ban for app like been kicked out for card counting at a deplorable crime, which of course is actually not A crime but I mean that’s a crime against the casinos, the poor casinos who just trying to make a living there. Let’S drop! No, I just want to do this, so we can be massively unanimously in favor Ben Affleck.

Lo que going to demand you happier at thousand different ways: it a go, take our money, it we peered out one way: kind: o 28, even though I was a little bit, they have no people. Others of I can’t believe, you’re being smart. How dare you bed at like not only not guilty Bob Prather the dude from way to go early with your right cuz?

He was winning money. That’S why I think if he was losing money, believe me they would make a good night. Of course. No, I think it’s actually extremely impressive.

When someone has the ability to count cards, it’s not easy. I made easier said than done right, so Ben Affleck’s, a smart dude, so big ups to him for the hot arm M. Am i angry with the casino for bring about a game? No, they have the right to do that and they didn’t. So it is what it is. I don’t know not gon na be like outrage, because they kick someone out a game for counting cards. Nonetheless, we are ruling on Ben Affleck guilty or not guilty.

I don’t know what that means, though they should as it moral. If you decide upstanding person, knowing that he is violating the casino rules should be and not counted, carsey guilty a bring new casinos rules. He obviously is guilty of breaking the casinos rules, which is why they booted him out of the game. I think you may perhaps saying this to logically.

Okay, sorry, she loading guilty, I’m not deny go. Let him go. Jerry Jackson now gives them to not guilty Jesus. Gon na my guess, I’m to me is not guilty of all time part. The reason we have this really is. I wanted to be unanimous with you.

It might as well as a second reason is actually use our gap. Ben Affleck not guilty you’re free to go. I accept your. I don’t really understand where you guys again, and we are you saying that he should be allowed to continue playing an issue to be allowed to continue counting cards. You, of course, that’s awesome, I’m glad he did so-what hard rock, like all like.

Oh, my god up, you know it’s so unfair that you can actually count it. Am i allowed to count up to 21 or or do I really like Pau? I do not know how to count at all melody an israeli categories heart. I know because I’ve tried – and I know this system a lot of people in the system – any other okay, -1 plus or minus 10 postponed to ponder fuck it in the picture. Doesn’T look what blackjack great, but I think it’s ridiculous that the pic you out for doing something that perfectly normal nd, Traci you’re betting pattern. That’S how they know yeah right, yeah, I N and yeah.

It’S really. I wish I was smart enough to count cards some freakin home for the no. I didn’t I guess when it comes to that issue. Cuz you’re asking me at first to ask me whether or not he’s breaking the rules and obviously he did cuz. They have a policy against it, but now that I think about it, what he’s just super smart and have the ability to do it? They should allow him to do it when you gon na do ban people for being too smart yep.

That’S basically, what you’re doing that’s pretty, basically higher, I Capri saying only suckers allowed. So if you’re a sucker, please come near casino, but if you happen to be winning will get really personal 30, the gazebo about the business model, most businesses. They want to take your money by usually lying to you or misrepresenting a product or whatever it is. I mean it’s not is a very common thing me, that’s true, but where to go in guilty? Okay, all right now, one less thing its accede to be fair.

To hard rock a bit over genius marketing move, you know why, because now everything’s all turns, I can think of, you can count cards and you can win that way. That’S way to bed at like a I’m gon na go kart your account cards and but what your realizes? It’S not that easy to rebuild a genius but is not easy, and we know through experience to people that have already done it. The great majority people who think that they’re counting cards Sacaton not actually wind up losing a lot of money.

So this carry big ad for all the casinos like come here. All golly gee, you might take money from us, blackjack might be in your favor there’s. Also, the celebrity element right now all the sudden hearing articles about this story, and you see things like Hard Rock Casino, Las Vegas, which is known for its celebrity clientele right.

All of that and people who want anything like well. If I go to Hard Rock time, I see people like Ben Affleck, although, ironically you won’t see Ben Affleck anymore, is he’s gone baby gone. I have an idea, i’ve landed, I we can do a tyte.

You know on the office you on this out practice among timecard. You guys give me like 15 other dollars. I’M Campbell in Vegas have no fear by can do this right, okay, I’ll anything about that in no, I a okay so far, we’ve or on the actual gavel. I not guilty.
